Summit Christian Academy
Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is an independent, nondenominational Christian school serving over 660 preschool-12th grade students from over 140 area churches with a college preparatory Christian education. Summit Christian Academy is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International and the North Central Association and provides a college-preparatory program, along with a full range of extracurricular activities. The staff and faculty at Summit Christian Academy strive to inspire students to discover and achieve their God-given potential.
Our Christian School Mission and Philosophy
We recognize that parents have a God-given responsibility to provide education for their children. We also recognize that all truth is from God and value the importance of a Christian school education. It is our Christian academy’s desire to work together with parents and the church to prepare students spiritually, morally, socially, and academically, so that they will grow in grace and in the knowledge of God and affect their world for Christ.
Great Christian education is dynamic. It’s an ongoing process to meet the ever-changing challenge of providing students with a comprehensive academic, social, and spiritual package. Summit Christian Academy students are encouraged to “think for themselves” and gain a thorough understanding of their belief system. Students are exposed to opposing worldviews and challenged to think critically and independently. Christian precepts and biblical principles are integrated throughout the curriculum, but matters of denominational doctrine are left to the families. As an independent Christian school, our school family represents the face of the Christian community.
Our Christian School Structure
SCA is a not-for-profit corporation with a Board of Education that directs the operation of the school through an Administrator. The Board of Education is composed of seven persons. Five are elected by the parents for three-year terms and two are pastors appointed by the parent-members of the Board for two-year terms.
Our Accreditation and Professional Affiliations
SCA is accredited by the North Central Association and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). SCA is a member of the National Institute for Learning Disabilities (NILD). The NILD educational therapy program is designed to give students the tools they need to become successful, independent learners within the regular classroom. All Administrators at SCA are members of the International Association of Christian School Administrators.
Our Covenant Churches
Many Kansas City churches have entered into a “covenant” relationship with us. The covenant churches agree with our Statement of Faith and pray for and promote SCA among their congregations. Students enrolling from a covenant church are extended the opportunity of early enrollment and a discount on the enrollment fee.
